Free Christmas dinners slated

Don’t forget, there will be free holiday dinners in Nyssa and Vale on Christmas day. (The Enterprise/File).

VALE – Corina Breeden believes everyone should have a Christmas dinner.

With the help of the community, Breeden is going to be able to do her part to make sure local residents can sit down to some holiday fare Wednesday.

Monetary donations allowed Breeden to rent out the dining hall at The Sagebrush Saloon at 197 A St. E. in Vale for the Christmas dinner set from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Donations also helped purchase food for the dinner, she said.

Breeden said the dinner will consist of ham, turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and pies for dessert.

“It was kind of a combined effort. I just coordinated it,” said Breeden.

The Nyssa Senior Center will also host a free community Christmas dinner Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 316 Good Ave. Those who attend are asked to bring a dessert and donations are always welcome. The holiday fare at the senior center will be similar to the meal in Vale with turkey, ham, potatoes, gravy, dressing, green bean casserole and pies for dessert.
