NYSSA – Nyssa police are investigating a shooting that occurred just after 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Green Avenue.

Nyssa Police Lt. Don Ballou said a dispute between two women triggered the incident where Gabriella Garcia, 18, Nyssa, was shot in the left leg. Garcia was later transported to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Ontario in a personal vehicle.

The dispute, said Ballou, was over a man.

Multiple shots, Ballou said, were fired and police recovered five 9 mm pistol shell cases at the scene.

Shots were fired before the two women began a physical altercation and during the fight.

Ballou said police are looking into several persons of interest but have made no arrests.
