Nyssa Library welcomes employee, seeks new board member

The Nyssa Public Library is a facility we are fortunate to have, and a hub of activity in our community. The library has computers, comfy chairs to sit in while you read a magazine or newspaper, great historical information and resource materials, in addition to a great collection of books for all ages.

If Nyssa doesn’t have the book you are seeking, it’s easy to order from one of the other libraries in Eastern Oregon.

A book sale is currently underway, with many hardback and paperback books at reasonable prices.

If you don’t have a library card, stop in and get one!

New to the library is Kelli Overstreet, library assistant. Kelli lives in Weiser and comes to the library with 10 years of experience.

JoElle Rau is now the library director, succeeding retiree Faith Adams. JoElle was a library assistant in Nyssa for seven years, and previously worked in the Salem library.

Congratulations to JoElle and welcome to Kelli!

Storytime at the library begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with games, music and stories for children babies to preschool. Ruth Blazzard will lead Storytime. Parents or caregivers are encouraged to bring children and participate with them in the activities.

The library is governed by a board, which currently has a vacancy.

Friends of the Nyssa Library, a non-profit organization that raises money for the library, is currently seeking more friends and fundraising to replace the library carpet.

If you are interested in serving on the library board, being a friend of the library, or making a donation toward the carpet replacement, stop by and talk to JoElle. The library is located at 319 Main St.
