ONTARIO – The sounds of a new season could be heard from the Tiger Stadium as the Ontario High School Marching Band practiced in the field last week ahead of the season. Matt Gilman, director of bands for the Ontario School District, said the band program is growing.

“We shrunk for a few years to a low of 23 members, but we’re back up to 35 now and hope to be even bigger as each year goes by,” said Gilman, who is in his eighth year leading the Tigers.

In addition to the marching band, Ontario has a concert band and they reinstated their jazz band program. Gilman credits the students as well as parental support for the band’s success.
