VALE – Viking softball coach Cirbi Morrison was named Eastern Oregon League coach of the year while two Vale players earned pitcher and player of the year accolades.
Viking junior Demia Harden was named the EOL softball pitcher of the year while teammate and junior Alexys Rodgers was named the player of the year.
Rodgers was also named to the all-league first team as were senior Gracee Jacobs, junior Sierra Cleaver and sophomore Sydnee Thomas.
Senior outfielder Baylee Tolman, senior infielder Isabella Sigrah, senior catcher Sadie Thomas and freshman infielder Alexis Cleaver received all-league honorable mention.
The Vikings made history during the 2019 season by going undefeated in league play. The Vikings lost their first-round Class 3A playoff game to Taft 11-1 to end their season.
In baseball, Vale junior Matt McBride was named EOL player of the year. McBride also claimed was named all-league first pitcher and catcher.
Senior infielder Tanner Hamilton and junior outfielders Jared Fulwyler and Jason Ponce also were named all-league first team. Junior Colton Kesey was named to the all-league second team as an infielder.
The Vikings finished the regular season 8-4 and lost to La Pine 3-2 in the first round of the state playoffs.
