NYSSA – It’s rodeo time.
The 74th annual Nyssa Nite Rodeo will be this Friday and Saturday, June 14 and June 15, at the Oregon Trail Arena, south of town at Adrian Boulevard and Beck Road.
Pre-rodeo events start at 7 p.m. with the main event starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 for those age 12 or over and $5 for ages 6-12. Children under 6 are free.
Gather up the whole family and come on down. The rodeo parade will be held on Saturday, June 15, starting at 4:30 p.m., along Main Street. Also on Saturday is the Buckaroo Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Nyssa Senior Center. It takes a lot of people and a lot of hard work to put on an event such as this. A big thank you to all the folks who put in time and talent to bring the rodeo to Nyssa.
• Summer reading has started at the Nyssa Library with activities for all ages. There will be a movie at 2 p.m. this Wednesday and next, June 12 and 19. The special activity for the week of June 17 is paper bag kites.
• Also at the library: Coming on June 20 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. is a Safesitter class. Teens can learn skills for building a babysitting business or safely watch younger siblings. Students will learn safety skills, childcare skills, first aid and rescue as well as life and business skills.
The class is free with lunch provided, but space is limited so contact the library to register. Call 541-372-2978 or stop by the library, at 319 Main Street, to register.
