Clean-up and decoration, Memorial Day services on tap at Nyssa

NYSSA – Volunteers are needed to clean up and decorate the veterans’ section of Hilltop Memorial Cemetery this Friday, starting at 9 a.m.

Memorial Day services will be held starting at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at Stringer Landing, located east of Nyssa just before crossing the Snake River.

• Mary Clark, the leader of the St. Bridget Catholic Youth Group, called to advise of the tremendous support the group received in donations for their project to decorate graves. Thank you to everyone who responded to the need for silk and other artificial flowers as well as funds to purchase flowers.

• Also thank you to Nyssa residents who recently donated to the Nyssa Community Food Pantry. A total of 42.5 pounds of food was collected through the letter carriers’ food drive. The pantry can always use items like soup, breakfast cereal, tuna and canned vegetables.

• Mark your calendars now and plan to attend a fundraiser on June 9 at Nyssa Church of the Nazarene. There are 12 youth planning to attend summer camp. The taco bar and dessert auction fundraiser will help with the expenses of going to camp.

For information, contact MaryAnn at 208-283-2455.

• Congratulations to the Nyssa High School Class of 2019! Commencement will be at 1 p.m. Sunday.
