MILTON-FREEWATER – The Ontario High School softball team took three wins at the McLoughlin spring break tournament last weekend.
The Tigers opened tourney play on Friday by nipping Yamhill-Carlton, 4-3, and then topped Santiam Christian in a 9-0 blowout.
The Ontario girls continued their winning streak Saturday with a 3-1 win over Rainier.
The spree ended later that day with a loss to No. 4 Junction City, 11-0.
Ontario’s Lexi Navarrete pitched two full games and came out the dugout as relief in two other games. She also had one home run.
“Lexi did well. She’s our leading hitter,” said Ontario head coach Jeff Young, noting she had a good showing at both the plate and pitching mound.
The Tigers are 8-2 for the season and will play Homedale at Ontario at 5 p.m. Thursday.
