Ontario High hosts hoops for special athletes

ONTARIO – Students with special needs from Ontario, Nyssa and Vale schools will be competing in a basketball game next Tuesday at the Ontario High School gym from 6 to 8 p.m.

Students from each school are encouraged to attend to cheer on their athletes. In addition, the Nyssa High School band will be performing.

“This is one of the first events of its kind in the area and we are really wanting to show community support of our differently-abled athletes in the county,” said Taryn Smith, public relations officer for the Ontario School District.

The event is free and canned food donations are encouraged to benefit the school food banks.
