  DANIEL LEE JESS 

August 21, 1942~ November 19, 2018

  Daniel Lee Jess, 76, of Ontario, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Monday November 19, 2018 at home. (Surviving spouse May McBride). Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at Park Community Church 201 Holly Rd (Highway 201) in Ontario. Pastor Ed Renk will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 1969 N River Road, Payette, Idaho. 

Friends may call at the Park Community Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Condolences may be made to Daniel’s family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Daniel was born on August 21, 1942, to Jerry Amos Jess and Flossie Steigel Jess–McBride in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was raised and lived most of his life in Montana, residing in Anaconda, Butte, Bozeman, Columbus, Billings and Bridger. In 1959, he married Katherine Anita Church and had three children, Crystal, Aloma, and Scott. They later divorced. 

He was known for being a meticulous and talented craftsman and a gentle loving man. Throughout his life he worked as a rancher, a journeyman meat cutter – building his own meat processing plant, as a skilled mason, construction contractor – and he built many homes for himself and others.

In 2001, he married May McBride in Melville, Montana. Together they fulfilled their lifelong dreams by developing a commercial Angus ranch and living an enjoyable life filled with humor and fun.

His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, packing into the mountains, and caring for his animals. 

In 2015, Dan and May moved to Ontario, to downsize their ranch and be closer to family and friends.

Dan is survived by his wife, May McBride; brother Carl (Mary Kay, deceased) Jess of Anaconda, Montana; half-brother Pete McBride of Alaska; brother-in-law Lyle Cunningham (Helen deceased) of Twin Falls; children, Crystal (Steve) Gaines, Aloma (Sondra) Jess, Scott (Gloria) Jess; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; step-children, Linda Anderson, Brenda (Erik) Freeman, Brian (Regina) Anderson; four step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Laura (Norm), Viola (Jimmy) and Helen Cunningham.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Boise or Billings Rescue Mission, or to the Cancer Foundation in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P. O. Box 730 Payette, Idaho 83661.

Jackie Tinges

May 15, 1931~ November 30, 2018

Jack Tinges passed away Nov. 30, at the age of 87, his family with him. Jackie Jean Tinges was born May 15, 1931, in Pontiac, Illinois, to Vernon (Buck) and Mary (Abts) Tinges. As an only child, Jack grew up and worked on his family’s 50-acre farm in McDowell, Illinois. His childhood consisting of hunting, showing 4-H hogs, and (of course) fishing. Once out of high school Jack decided to make a career out of carpentry, building everything from thousand-chicken poultry houses for Haddenger’s in Illinois to Don Laughlin’s High Rise Casino in Nevada.

He met the love of his life, Jan Womack, in 1982 in Bullhead City, Arizona, shortly after he was contracted by Kim Stratton to build greenhouses in Las Vegas. They both worked at the nursery until retirement in 2002. They moved to Jordan Valley to be closer to the grandchildren and were very involved in the community. Along with supporting the athletic program, they enjoyed fishing, traveling, and being amongst family.

Jack is survived by cousin Jay Tinges; nieces Shannon (Tom) Blasdell and Teresa (Kenny) Kershner; grandchildren Bailey (Daniel) Richards, Amber (Mitch) Quimby, Logan (Kailee) Blasdell, and Bryce Kershner; and great-grandchildren Luke Richards, Amaya Richards, Ridge Blasdell, and Janie Quimby.

Services for Jack will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Jordan Valley Lions Den, dessert and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Jordan Valley athletic fund or the Jordan Valley High Desert Church.
