Ontario shooting sparks high-speed chase into Idaho

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning at this Ontario restaurant.

ONTARIO – A man was killed in a shooting about 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Los Potrillos restaurant in Ontario. 

A man sought in connection with the shooting led police on a high-speed chase before he was arrested in Idaho.

The chase ensued after Nyssa Police Chief Ray Rau spotted the man’s silver Ford pickup truck on Enterprise Boulevard, near Highway 201. Rau pursued the truck, which headed toward Idaho.

Officers responding from the Oregon State Police, Idaho State Police, Wilder and Parma police departments and the Payette County Sheriffs’ Office joined the pursuit. The driver was captured at the junction of Sand Hollow Road and Interstate 84 in Idaho.

Jaime Escobedo, 41, of Fruitland, Idaho, was arrested at the scene.

Police have not released the identity of the victim of the shooting.
