ONTARIO — The Ontario boys soccer team will be hosting Newport/Toledo this afternoon in the first round of state playoff action.

The game will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Alameda Elementary School soccer fields.

Ontario finished its regular season as the Greater Oregon League champions.

“This is the first time in 16 years to win league champion,” said Ontario Coach Jaime Gonzalez.

The Tigers enter state playoffs as the No. 2 team in state for the 3A conference. Newport/Toledo is ranked 15th.

If Ontario wins today, it will advance to the second round of state playoffs held this Saturday.
