NYSSA – Fire and police are investigating a trailer fire that killed a Nyssa man Friday night.

Nyssa Fire Department Chief Eric Menchaca said the blaze began about 9 p.m., sparked by an electrical failure in the bathroom of the single-wide trailer at 1720 Park Ave.

Menchaca said the name and age of the man killed in the fire are being withheld as the investigation of the fire is underway.

Fire destroyed one half of the trailer and damaged the rest of the structure.

Menchaca said more than 20 firefighters from Nyssa, Parma and Ontario fought the blaze until after midnight. Treasure Valley Paramedics also responded to the scene.

An inspector and an arson detective from the State Fire Marshal’s office were on the scene Saturday morning, said Menchaca, although he stressed that the cause was not arson.
