Vale News: Planners welcome help as they prep for Hall of Fame

VALE – The Vale High School Alumni Association has two planning meetings for its second annual Hall of Fame Banquet.

The meetings will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, and Monday, Oct. 15, at the Vale Emma Humphrey Library meeting room, 150 A St. E.

Everyone is welcome to help plan the banquet, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Malheur County Fairgrounds in Ontario. A reception starts at 5 p.m., followed by a catered tri-tip dinner at 6.

With Bill Buhrig as emcee, the evening will include live and silent auctions and presentation of the new Hall of Famers.

This year, the association will induct three noted alumni into the Hall of Fame. The honorees are Arnie Lewis, longtime Vale coach, teacher and superintendent; Ray Barnes, Vale graduate and longtime teacher, coach and principal; and Frank Yraguen, Vale graduate and retired Malheur County Circuit judge.

For tickets, contact Bobbi Buttice, 541-823-2900.

The annual Vale FFA Scholarship Auction is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Offering an array of donated gifts, goods and services, the auction raises money for scholarships for FFA members and also helps pay their cost to national convention competitions.

The auction will start at 10 a.m. at the Vale School District bus shed.
