ONTARIO – Longtime Ontario resident and businessman Grant Kitamura was recently selected by Gov. Kate Brown to serve on the Oregon State Board of Agriculture.
Kitamura will join new appointee Shantae Johnson of Corbett on the 10-member board that advises the director of the Oregon Department of Agriculture on the administration of programs and the creation of policies for Oregon agriculture.
Kitamura’s and Johnson’s tenure on the board begins Nov. 1.
Kitamura is general manager and part owner of Baker & Murakami Produce Company – an onion packing facility – in Ontario.
Kitamura is a graduate of Oregon State University and also a part of the seven-member Malheur County Development Corp., that will oversee the creation of a multimillion-dollar rail reload facility north of Nyssa.
