Vale’s annual Fourth of July parade was held on Wednesday as part of the city’s Independence Day festivities.

The parade kicked off at 5 p.m. from the Vale High School parking lot and snaked its way down Yakima Street and A Street towards downtown Vale. It lasted 40 minutes.

Spectators gathered with friends and family along the entire parade route. They escaped the heat by congregating under the shade of trees and buildings.

People in the procession playfully threw water balloons and shot water guns at viewers on the sidewalks. Kids chased after candy thrown from the parade.

The parade was sponsored by the Vale Chamber of Commerce.
