Vale Roundup: City swimming pool gets ready to open

Everybody into the pool!

The Vale City Swimming Pool is set to open next Tuesday, the day after Memorial Day.

The pool will be open every day except Sundays, and offers open swim, lessons, lap time and more.

Gate prices are $4 for ages 3 and up, free for 2 and under, $3 for evening swim, $1 for lap swim, and $2 for day-care providers.

Family passes are available for $145 for city residents or $160 for out-of-town visitors.

• The Vale Chamber of Commerce will discuss bylaws changes at its next lunch meeting, set for 12 p.m. this Thursday at Chavelita’s.

• The Vale Emma Humphrey Library is offering its summer reading program, with prizes and activities for kids age 1-14. Registration begins this Thursday at the library.

• The Vale Christian Church is holding a Community Giveaway and Bake Sale this week – from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The church is at 450 A St. W. On Friday, there will be lunch available to purchase.

• The Vale High School Alumni Association will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Vale Emma Humphrey Library meeting room, 150 A St. E. Everyone is welcome.
