Nyssa Bulldogs, Vale Vikings in EOL softball playoffs

VALE – Both Nyssa and Vale enter postseason play in the Special District 2 softball season.

Vale, currently the second seed in the district, received a bye for the first round of play and is scheduled to meet a yet to be determined team on Friday in Grant Union.

The Vikings ended the regular season with a 6-5 victory over Nyssa on Tuesday, May 8 on the Bulldog home field.

Demia Hardin went the entire game for the Vikings, striking out seven and allowing nine hits.

For the Bulldogs, Sabrina Castro, Brenda Trujillo and Hailey Castro each had a triple.

For Nyssa, Nicole Lambie struck out 18 Vale batters. She allowed three hits and five walks. 

After the loss the the Vikings, the Bulldogs ended the regular season with two win in Burns.

Facing the Hilanders on Friday, the Bulldogs made quick work of game one, winning 21-5.

Game two was also all Nyssa as the Dawgs took a 15-3 win.

The Vikings end the regular season with a 6-2 league record to go with a 9-14 overall record.

Nyssa wrapped up the season with a 2-6 league record and a 7-13 overall record.

In the first round of playoffs, the Bulldogs were scheduled to travel to Enterprise on Tuesday to meet Enterprise/Joseph/Wallowa (4-4 league, 7-9 overall), the third ranked team in the leauge. Due to press time, results were unavailable.
