NYSSA – The Nyssa tennis team found the road trip to La Grande to be a tough one, falling to the Tigers 7-3 on Monday, March 19.
The Bulldogs bounced back to defeat the Homedale Trojans 7-3 in a makeup match the next day. The win included victories by both girls doubles teams and at second girls singles, when Chloe Richards scored a 6-4, 6-1 win. In doubles, Kristy Benjamin teamed with Makayla Kesler to score a 6-1, 6-0 win over the Tiger oppoents and Savanna Kesler and Hailey Long put together a 6-2, 6-0 win over the La Grande team.
Nyssa dominated the girls singles action, taking all three wins by way of Benjamin, Richards and Hope Prozanski.
The same was true in the boys doubles as the Bulldogs won both their matches.
Deardon Woodruff teamed with Jacob Ashby to win over Homedale, 6-2, 4-6 and 6-4.
Colton Rindlisbacher and Josh Ashby had an easier time of it, winning in striaght sets, 6-4, 6-3.
In boys singles, both Deardon Woodruff and Austin Romans defeated their Trojan foes. Woodruff took a 6-3, 6-4 win while Romans downed his Trojan opponent, 6-1 and 6-0.
After taking time off for the spring break, Nyssa travels to Payette on Monday, April 2 to meet the Pirates.
