Hollis E. Hood, 87, of Nampa, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Hollis was born on Dec. 7, 1930 to Oscar and Lillie (White) Hood in Lubbock, Texas. Hollis had little formal education but would learn how to be a rancher at a young age. Hollis and his brother Dee enjoyed many rodeos, riding bulls and broncs. He married Maybelle Smith in 1964. They had a great marriage until she passed in 1990. He ranched in many communities including Vale, Murphy, Harper, and settling in Jordan Valley /Arock in 1970 for the Davis family as a ranch foreman.

He was a huge part of the Vale Rodeo participating in the suicide horse race every 4th of July for numerous years and awarded grand marshal for one year. Hollis enjoyed hunting, fishing but most of all just loved being with his family. He leaves a huge hole in our families’ hearts, we love him so much.
