Nyssa artists can sign up for new competition

Wednesday, March 14, is the date for the Nyssa Senior Center monthly meeting and potluck. The meeting starts at 11 a.m. with the potluck following at noon. Come, bring your ideas for activities and events at the Nyssa Senior Center.

Wednesday is also the date for “Science is Fun” at the Nyssa Library. Catapults is the theme for this month’s science activity. That sounds like a lot of fun! While at the library, pick up an entry form for the Fan Art Contest sponsored by the library. As part of Nyssa-Con, to be held on March 24, the library is hosting an art competition. Artists should select a graphic novel, movie, book or video game for inspiration and create a piece of fan art (art inspired by a work of fiction), or artists may submit their own original work. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, March 22, and will be displayed at Nyssa Public Library for two weeks leading up to and during Nyssa-Con. Entries will be judged by the public. Nyssa-Con will be held on Saturday, March 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is free, come in costume and meet Obie Wan. There will be games, crafts and items for sale. Games with Vintage Nerd and guest appearance by artist Randall Kirby.
