HARPER — Fire crews expected to contain by Saturday night a wildfire burning 24 miles southwest of Harper, according to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
The Hard Rock fire was burning on state land, triggered by thunderstorms that moved over Malheur County Friday.
Al Couch, BLM spokesman in Vale, said the fire had covered 1,280 acres but was no longer spreading as of Saturday afternoon. He said four engines and a helicopter were working the fire.
He said there had been no injuries associated with the fire and no loss of private property.
