Local BLM crews deployed across region to fight fires

VALE — With wildfires burning across Oregon, crews from the Vale District of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management have been deployed to help.

BLM officials reported Tuesday that local staff are deployed to blazes in Montana, Washington and Oregon.

Seven Snake River Valley firefighting crews are now deployed at several fires burning in Oregon.

Two crews are at the Chetco Bar fire in the Siskiyou Mountains. One Snake River Valley firefighting crew is deployed to the Miller Complex blaze in the Siskiyou’s while another is helping battle the Umpqua North Complex in the Umpqua Forest.

One Snake River Valley firefighting team is deployed to the North Pelican Fire near Lakeview, while another crew is deployed to the Jones Fire in the Willamette Forest. One Snake River Valley crew is also working the Jade Cree Fire near Lakeview.

The local BLM office has also sent specialists – including a supply unit leader, a fire behavior analyst and two helicopter managers – to blazes in Washington and Montana.
