This Week’s Obituaries – June 7

FRUITLAND, Idaho – Joanne L Hopper, a longtime resident of the Treasure Valley, passed away in her home on December 13, 2016, at the age of 79.

Joanne was born on August 12, 1937 in Bakersfield California, to David and Leone Kridelbaugh. She graduated from Willamette High School in 1954 and went on to attend beauty school at Eugene Beauty College.

One of her many passions was being a hairdresser and she spent much of her life in the beauty salon. Joanne also was quite the artist. She loved painting, specifically in the Western theme and was often recognized for her talent and quality of work.

If she wasn’t spending her time painting or doing hair, she was spending it with animals. Much of her life was spent on her farm in Nyssa, Oregon, where she raised horses, cattle, sheep, dogs, and many other animals.

Joanne was also a fighter and one of the strongest ladies around. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the early 1980s. She showed her strength and love for the Lord every step of the way while battling MS and was a true inspiration.

She is survived by her children, Kelly (Frank) Jordan of Westfall, Oregon and David (Rachel) Hopper of Portland, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Doyle S. Hopper.

Graveside services will be held at the Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Nyssa on Friday, June 9, at 11 a.m.
