Glenna Joann Bond, 86, of Vale, Oregon; went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 22, 2016.
She was born on March 6, 1929, in Albany, Oregon. She graduated from Albany High School in 1947 and married her high school sweetheart, Russ Bond, on Dec. 23, 1947 at her parents’ home in Albany. They had two sons, Gordon and Bruce. The family lived in Albany, Mikkalo, Ontario, Arizona, California and moved to Vale in 1963.
She faithfully served the Lord for all of her adult life, she loved the church and her church family, helping with crafts at Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Glenna had a few outside jobs, but her passion was taking care of her husband, being a homemaker and raising her family. She was happy to baby-sit all eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and they all feel privileged to have had that time with her. She loved ”puttering” in her yard and could out work everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Mickey Hall, and sisters Trudy Simpson and Virginia Ausmus Wolf.
She is survived by Russ, her husband of 68 years, sons and their wives Gordon and Jennet Bond of Richland, Oregon and Bruce and Judy Bond of Vale, Oregon; eight grandchildren and their families including 11 great grandchildren and also many special nieces and nephews.
A Traditional Funeral Service will be held at the Vale Christian Church at 1 p.m. (MST) on Friday, March 4, 2016 with internment at Valley View Cemetery in Vale. Friends are invited to join the family for a dinner that will follow the interment at Vale Christian Church.
